Hair loss -in medical terminology, alopecy- quite frequently occurs among men. At least 50% of the male population is affected by balding by the time they reach the age of 40-50. A change in the quality and quantity of hair on the scalp, and the shrinking of the hairy area can be betraying signs of hair loss. Fortunately, hair loss avoids certain parts of the head, so hair implantation can restore men's original natural hairstyle as well.
Men's balding is called androgen alopecy. Androgen is a compound word created from andro and gene. Genetic features also participate in the process of balding. It is a hormone, just like testosterone. When it appears hair growth stops. The hairs become thinner and finally they fall out.
However, the real cause of hair loss is the DHT (dihydro-testosterone) hormone. This hormone is present in everybody, but only those people will start balding who are genetically predisposed. The anti-androgenous drugs are capable of slowing down the process, but they cannot stop it.
Hair loss is much more noticeable in the case of men than women, as the bald areas are clearly visible. They first appear on the two sides of the forehead and on the top of the head.

It's enough to take a look at older men in our family. As it is in several other cases, the problem originates in our ancestors. 50% of children are expected to start balding because their parents did, too.
There are anti-androgenous drugs that are capable of slowing down the process of balding, but they cannot stop it. Men's hair loss is quite obvious, because after a while larger related areas become hairless. The main areas of hair loss are the part above the forehead and the top of the head, where the hairs become thinner and thinner and finally, disappear completely. The size of this type of balding can be determined in advance, due to its genetic nature, if we take a look at our balding ancestors. In percentages, about 50% of children are threatened by balding if their parents also suffered from this problem.
Fortunately, genetic balding only affects the indicated areas. The hair found on the back of the head, especially on the nuchal hairy area is resistant to the hormones. The permanent result of hair implantation is ensured by the fact that these hairs and follicles keep their resistance on the new surface as well, so actually hair loss ceases there, too.
Men's hair transplantation is done with the help of the most modern FUE and SHE methods in our clinic. The point of FUE hair implantation is that the hairs are extracted in follicular units -in other words, grafts- and implanted into the bald area. The grafts consist of hairs, follicles and the sorrounding pieces of tissue, which can be of nerve, vascular, muscle or perhaps fatty tissue origin. This intervention is the most modern surgical procedure today. As opposed to the outdated techniques it has a great advantage, namely that it does not leave any scars or wounds, so after the hair transplantation men will only have their hairstyle as a memory of the intervention.
